Proofwrite
Proofwrite is a customer-focused company established in 1999. The company has evolved since its early days and is now run solely by Alison Walters, its director.
Alison is a Professional Member of the Chartered Institute of Editing and Proofreading and has been proofreading for twenty years. Her insurance background comes from a supervisory role with Sun Alliance in which she dealt with aspects of the job that now complement her proofreading career: dealing with customers, interviewing and training staff, writing assessments and working to strict policies and deadlines. These factors ensure she has the ability to adapt to each subject and piece of work she deals with.
Alison has completed proofreading and grammar courses and is able to work with Microsoft Word software, Microsoft PowerPoint presentation software and with Adobe PDFs. She is also experienced in checking websites for text errors and broken links.
Her strengths are her thoroughness in reading text and content, her ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure, and her enthusiasm to deal with new subjects and technologies.
Interests
Alison is interested in creative writing in all forms and has passed the Open University Start Writing Fiction and Start Writing Plays courses. She also studied creative writing at night school for a number of years.
Alison also likes to spend time watching films, reading and chilling out with her family. She also loves Zumba and is progressing her Yoga. She knows a lot about some things and a little about lots of things including, thanks to her husband’s hobby, Chinese Painted Quails.
